The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis is very well-written and researched. This is her third book and in each she uses a dual timeline to tell her story. In this novel, Davis does a wonderful job of taking you back to the 20’s when Grand Central Terminal in New York City had an art school housed in the building while the building itself was also a piece of art. Then she takes you to the 70’s when the art school has long been closed and Grand Central Terminal has lost its shine and glory and is in danger of getting built over. There is a struggle to save some old found art as well as a building that is a piece of art. Davis’ characters are well developed and there are many strong female characters. While Fiona Davis’ book The Address is still my favorite of hers, I loved reading about Grand Central and learning more about the art world. Well done!
