Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton – A Review

IMG_5713I absolutely loved Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton!  It is a dual timeline story – one part set in 1959 as three sisters flee Havana with their wealthy parents after a revolution puts Fidel Castro in charge.  The other part is set in recent times as the granddaughter of one of the sisters returns to Cuba (now that travel restrictions have somewhat eased) to learn more about her grandmother and her family’s past.  What develops is a beautifully told story that weaves history, loyalty, politics, family and love together!  This book focuses on one of the three sisters and Cleeton is already working on her next book which is the story of another of the sisters, Beatriz – I can’t wait to read that one next year!!
